Bob Costas


Robert Quinlan Bob Costas is an American sportscaster, on the air for NBC Sports television since the early 1980s. He has been primetime host of nine Olympic games. He also does playbyplay for MLB Network and hosts an interview show called Studio 42 with Bob Costas.

Bob Costas was born in the borough of Queens in New York City, the son of Jayne , of Irish descent, and John George Costas, an electrical engineer of Greek descent. His fathers family roots are from the island of Kalymnos in the Aegean Sea. In the documentary television series Baseball , directed by Ken Burns, Costas indicated that baseball was a connection between him and his father, in an otherwise, sometimes difficult relationship, but did not go into specifics. He grew up primarily in Commack, New York, graduating from Commack High School South.
